Wing Chun Forms

Sim Nim Tau

Sim Nim Tau 法 is main close contact combat form of Snake Crane Wing Chun.  The character 「小」(Siu) means ‘Little’ or ‘Small. 「念」(Lim) is the concept and 「頭」(Tau) is ‘beginning’.  Siu Lam Tau whole meaning is ‘Let use this close contact combat concept as the beginning to oppose the Long Bridge Big Stance’.  It is a complete close contact combat form with body structure, Qi development, Power generation and applications.  In close contact combat applications, there are two types; one is holding, lifting and throwing and the other is close contact short striking.  In Snake Crane Wing Chun Siu Lim Tau, you can find the latter in the fourth section and fifth section.

Chum Kiu

When the enemy comes to attack from different directions, the idea of finding a bridge is to use body shape to turn or walk forward, to meet the opponent’s external attack from different directions. Chum Kiu concept is to use body steering or footwork forward to meet opponents attack from different directions.  As cross bridging occurs, Siu Lim Tau close contact combat concept can be used to deal with.
